EXPERIENCE:
CITY BRANDING
Created for an open call marking the 500th anniversary of the Battle of Mohács, this city identity concept approaches history through typography, local craft and contemporary visual language.
Instead of treating the anniversary as a purely commemorative event, the concept explores how Mohács could connect its local Hungarian heritage with a broader European cultural memory.

concept
The identity returns to the fundamentals of visual communication: type. It combines typographic structure with references to blue-dye textile printing - kékfestés - a craft tradition deeply connected to Central European visual culture.
The goal was to create an identity that feels rooted, but not nostalgic; historical, but not dusty.

results
The visual system is built around two typefaces: Lora and Leiko. Lora brings a classical, literary character through its time-tested proportions, while Leiko, designed by Hungarian type designer Anikó Veres, adds a more contemporary and locally relevant layer.
Supporting typographic elements and lace-like patterns are constructed from details of the Leiko typeface, echoing the rhythm and ornamentation of blue-dye textile printing. These elements turn the identity into a flexible system that can move between posters, cultural programmes, city materials and commemorative applications.
